This painting of the Sears Tower was created in November of 2004, when I was first inspired to paint the city. One cold winter's night I ventured through the streets of Chicago and snapped a series of photos at places that had always peaked my interest. These initial photos served as reference material when I went back to my studio and created four paintings that launched the beginning of my Chicago art series. These paintings include the Chicago River, Art Institute, Chicago Water Tower and the Sears Tower.

As a child, I can vividly remember driving into Chicago with my family and watching the Sears Tower appear to grow taller as we got closer and closer to the city. These memories served as inspiration for this painting.
